Flashcards are a staple in the academic world. From vocabulary words for your foreign language to formulas for math and science exam, flashcards have proven to be a useful tool. What if I told you that there was a way to increase their effectiveness and spend less time studying?
Most students make a stack of flashcards and proceed to study each one and repeat them after getting to the end of the stack. A more effective way to approach this process is to study one card then study the second card then go back to the first card and quiz yourself on it. After this, quiz yourself on the second card and study the third card. Repeat this process until you are done with all of the flashcards. This increases your effectiveness, by the time you're done with your stack, you've reviewed each card numerous times! This will increase retention because you're reducing the time in between recalling the information and gradually extending it as you've practiced it more.
